Built in 1952, the SS United States was once a luxurious passenger liner that dwarfed the Titantic and broke speed records. Since 1996 it has been docked at Pier 82 in South Philly, after being stripped bare inside in 1984. Preservation efforts are ongoing via the SS United States Conservancy.
